There was a question regarding whether to use heat or cold when we have an acute trauma like ankle sprain or back sprain. The well-known rule is "RICE" - Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate. I can't agree more with resting, compressing, and elevating to stop internal bleeding and promote better blood flow. Ice can probably make you feel less painful because it's numbed, but over time blood vessels are constricted and and circulation is decreased and can cause stiffer muscles from scar tissue aka old injuries. We're told to use ice in the first 48 hours but every individual is different, who and how did we come up with this number? In fact, heat has the ability to transform and let tissue heal the right way. Heat can dilate and bring blood into the injured area and also out of it so pressure is not building up to cause swelling. If heat makes you feel better, your tissue is probably ready for heat, and you don't have to follow the first-48-hours rule.

We had our very successful open house on Saturday, Nov 2 and I really want to say Thank You to all of you who've made it to support us. We had over 100 guests for the 3 of us, and we had a great time chatting with all of you.
We're up and running! Today we put up the last window rice paper, signage, and artwork to make the clinic more cozy and lively.
Remember, our open house is on Saturday, November 2, from 10am to 3pm at the clinic. Refreshments will be served. Everyone gets a discount card that you can use toward your first treatment. Some may win a surprised gift too!
The clinic remodeling is finally done! This week we're building furniture and ordering supplies, and get well prepared before the grand opening. Jenny, Tom, and I tried to make the clinic really calming and relaxing with healing colors and set up. Our goal is to start the healing process the moment you step into our clinic, or even just the thought of it.
Again, stay tuned for the date for our Open House!
