Sports injuries or trauma are considered as an external cause of disease that the body forms blockages at the injured areas. For example, a sprained ankle is bruised and swollen because there is initial internal bleeding and the body coagulates the blood with the blood-clotting factor to stop the bleeding. When there is blockages, qi and blood cannot flow freely and thus there is pain. Depending on your condition, acupuncture and herbal medicine (both internal decoction and external herbal patches) are used to unblock the stagnation at your injured areas. There are also instructions of some exercises that you may do during rehabilitation.
